Earthquake in Turkey and Syria

Langenhagen, Germany, 21st February 2023

The shocking news about the earthquake that happened in Turkey and Syria still leave us in deep concerns.

As European Headquarters, where our Turkish subsidiary is part of our Konica Minolta family, we are in close contact with our colleagues in Turkey. We have learned that two of our colleagues there have been directly affected by the earthquake, but fortunately could be rescued. They have family members, though, who could not be saved anymore, and we want to express our heartfelt condolences and wish them, and everyone affected, strength in such difficult times.

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case. There are many people affected by the earthquake – directly as well as indirectly, and many of us in Europe know people in Turkey who went missing or were reported injured or dead. Of course, our thoughts and best wishes go out to them and all the other colleagues in Turkey as well. To bring support, the European Management of Konica Minolta has decided to donate 100 bizhub 227 to be used in the schools defined by the Turkish Ministry of Education to support the elementary education in the 93 destroyed schools.

This is accompanied by the help and support of Konica Minolta, Inc. who announced today that they will donate 10 million Japanese Yen (equals 70,000 Euro or 1,400,000 Turkish Lira) through the Japanese Red Cross Society to support relief efforts for the communities and people affected by the disaster. More can be read more about it here.

Also, one of our colleagues at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe started a project where dedicated postcards for the victims of the earthquake are printed on Konica Minolta devices and sold on Etsy to raise money that will be donated to the German organisation “Aktion Deutschland hilft  - Bündnis deutscher Hilfsorganisationen”. Any support is welcome here as well. Find more on this here.

Besides this, we have encouraged all colleagues who are willing to help, to donate to the well-known and established organisations like Red Cross, Save the Children, Doctors without Borders etc. to make sure the donations reach the people in need.

Konica Minolta stands strong behind their family members in Turkey.
