| 18 March 2024

Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) announced that Clarivate Plc, a U.K.-based global information service company (Clarivate), named Konica Minolta among the Top 100 Global Innovators 2024 (Top 100 Innovators) for the third consecutive year.

To create this list, Clarivate uses its own intellectual property and patent data to identify companies and organisations that have met the qualifying criteria of having filed 500 or more patent applications since 2000 and been granted 100 or more patents during the past five years, and then evaluates the identified candidates in terms of four factors: “Influence,” “Success,” “Globalisation” and “Rarity.”

Contributing to solving social issues with intellectual property
Konica Minolta aims to contribute to solving social issues through co-creation with customers by leveraging its intangible assets of “relationship with customers,” “technology integration,” and “diverse human capital,” while developing high-profit businesses and enhancing sustainable corporate value.

Recognising that intellectual property is part of its important intangible assets and the source of its ability to enhance corporate value, the company remains committed to creating high-quality intellectual property that facilitates its co-creation efforts with customers, contributes to solving social issues and accelerates its business growth by continuing to make appropriate investments amid the changing business environment.

Strategic intellectual property activities
Regarding competitive advantage, which is a driver of the expansion of the strengthening business, Konica Minolta is continuously implementing focused, proactive intellectual property investments and activities.

The company owns a number of high-level intellectual property, including the Dynamic Radiography Analysis in the Medical Imaging Business, which, combined with Dynamic Digital Radiography, enables high-value-added image diagnosis; and automatic quality optimisation in the Professional Print Business, which automates the machine adjustment, quality control and inspection processes of digital printing and realises higher efficiency and user-friendly operation that does not require special skills. By utilising such intellectual property and focusing its investments in intellectual property, Konica Minolta aims to further increase the competitive advantage of its strengthening business.

Konica Minolta will continue its efforts to reinforce its competitiveness and enhance its corporate value by proactively investing in and utilising intellectual property and intangible assets.
